Bible Chapter: Ezekiel 45 & 46

Because the Bible is practical, here are some statements to get you thinking.

1.  Write one or two key thoughts that come from today’s reading.
Land as an inheritance.  Here the prophet describes the land allotted to the Temple.  It was in the center of the nation.  We can see a picture for our lives that God must be central to the life we live. He must be our first priority.  There was land that was set apart as the inheritance for the priests. They were to no longer exploit the people.  They were instructed to be satisfied with what God provided to them.  They had to give up violence, oppression and cruelty.  They were required to do what is right and honest.
In this section recalling their worship and feasts, they were reminded of the Passover. This was a seven-day annual feast to remind them of how God spared their ancestors and brought them out of slavery in Egypt.  Through the picture of the exodus we see God’s plan of salvation for mankind.  On the first Passover that was celebrated in Egypt, the Lord passed over the houses covered by lamb’s blood.  Judgement came to the places without the blood of the lamb.

2.  What can I apply in my life from the reading?
God commanded the leaders and the people to do what was right and just in every aspect of their lives.  They were instructed in how to honestly measure goods that were sold.  They were to give honest work for honest pay and honest measurement for honest purchases.  The people were also instructed in their worship to the Lord.  These principles of truth, honesty and righteousness are to be consistently followed down through the ages.

3.  How can I help someone?
Don’t be caught up in an endless pursuit of what life is all about.  We see the answer to that throughout God’s Word.  Look for the teachings of truth that never changes and, with God’s help, apply them in life and be His follower.
