Bible Chapter: Ezekiel 37 & 38

Because the Bible is practical, here are some statements to get you thinking.

1.  Write one or two key thoughts that come from today’s reading.
This is a very famous passage where God uses symbolism to show the supernatural things He will do.  God gave Ezekiel a vision of a valley full of bones, representing the nation of Israel.  It was a picture of death and despair.  This divided nation had been conquered and scattered among foreign nations, and their hopes died in the process.  Ezekiel was to prophesy to the bones that were then raised to life.  This vision was given to assure the people of God’s power to restore them to the promised land.  The dry bones were restored and breath entered, giving them life.  The nation of Israel that seemed dead would be restored physically, and then spiritually.  God also promised that the divided nation would become one again.
There will be future battles against the nation.  In the end God promised victory.

2.  What can I apply in my life from the reading?
Every man’s sword. This is a word of hope.  We face times when the enemy seems so formidable that there is no hope.  God has the power to confuse the enemy so that they will turn against their allies.  God has amazing ways to accomplish His purpose and protect His people.  We must not be overcome with fear.

3.  How can I help someone?
All life exists because God created it.  He made it out of nothing.  He can take dead bones and make them live again.  He can take hopeless situations and turn them around.  Since nothing is impossible, we can have hope.  Don’t give up.
