Bible Chapter: Psalms 125 & 126

Because the Bible is practical, here are some statements to get you thinking.

1.  Write one or two key thoughts that come from today’s reading.
Trusting in the Lord is an expression of faith in God Who cannot be moved and abides forever. The Psalm expresses the thought of the mountains that surround Jerusalem. Standing in Jerusalem, one can look around and see all the hills that still surround it. This is a beautiful picture of the protection of the Lord to His people. We are encouraged to turn aside from wicked ways and let God lead and protect.
There are times when God’s people do things they shouldn’t, and the result is that these actions bring consequences. This happened to Israel from time to time. But, God was always there to hear their cries and repentance. God will restore his people.

2.  What can I apply in my life from the reading?
A good lesson to remember is that believers in the Lord always have Him surrounding them  and the forces of wickedness will not win in the end. There are times of sewing in tears, but we are reminded here that they will lead to reaping in joy. We are also told that the one who continually goes forth weeping and bearing seed for sowing will doubtless come again with rejoicing in the harvest. I must always remember this, for it is easy to become discouraged in the battle.

3.  How can I help someone?
I want to help the discouraged and defeated continually focus on and reach out to the Lord for His help. Never give up.
